Democracy In Pakistan
Today democracy is considered to be the best form of
government. Democracy has been decided as government
of people by the people and for the people . The word democracy
has been derived from two greek words "demos" whch means the
people and " kratos" which means the rule. So democracy means
the rule of the people.
no doubt democracy is the best form of government if a nation
is fully aware of its rights and duties. where as democracy has proved
to be a great success in some parts of the world, it has failed in many
including Pakistan. it is the irony of fate that in our 63 year history nearly
half of time has passed under army and other half of time uder the shadow
of arms. Democracy needs full commitment and dedication
but, unfortunately our country has always been robbed and looted
by so called leaders. the trust of the people has been shattered every
time.
Pakistan came into being through a democratic process but a series of blunders
started soon after freedom and the democratic process was derailed again
and again. Pakistani nation has been deprived of real democracy due to long
periods of martial law.
The basic aim of this system is the welfare of all and sundry.
in democracy all the citiizens are equal in rights and duties. there is complete freedom of expression.
Unfortunately we lack all these factors.
now in this election , it is on our leaders to change themselves and try
to overcome the hurdles that come in the way of democracy .
They must realize that our future lies in the survival of democracy.
